Advocacy for Good Governance and Development

When Matata Ponyo Mapon was appointed Prime Minister in April 2012 by the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Joseph Kabila Kabange, he was tasked with the mission and obsession of turning the country around. His goals were to uplift the Congolese Nation and improve the living conditions of its citizens. In order to successfully achieve his vision, he needed to expedite the pace of reforms in various areas such as security and the judicial system, economy and social welfare, natural resources, infrastructure, and education. All of these endeavors were essential to reach emergence by 2030 and consolidate the stability of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As he often says, "development cannot be improvised, it must be built."

Thanks to his vision, his commitment to delivering results, and his method characterized by rigor and high standards, he managed to fulfill his promises. Poverty rates, human development index, economic growth, and inflation control were key indicators that he successfully improved. "Men come and go, but institutions remain." The Prime Minister consistently presented all of these measures and results in his speeches, which served as a valuable testimony, a solid foundation of information, and a remarkable source of inspiration.
